Embrace the power of social media as it turns everyday skills into extraordinary opportunities
GIZ Ghana’s DTEG and PeCI e-commerce training brought social media into the spotlight as a vital business booster. We explored mastering social platforms, crafting standout listings, writing captivating product descriptions, creating buzzworthy content, and earning certifications and verifications. The session also covered Facebook Shop setup, customer service tips, technical know-how, and legalizing businesses for success. Key focuses included social media page verification—ensuring authenticity, notability, and user confidence with verified badges—along with spotting red flags in product/service descriptions, such as poor language, grammatical errors, insufficient details, or plagiarism, which can undermine trust on e-platforms.

This is a great opportunity for the Centre for Social Innovations (CSI) Ghana’s Digital Literacy and Skills Empowerment Project in Boaso and Buokurukruwa. Farmers can flaunt their harvests on social media, using Facebook Shop to connect with buyers worldwide, with verified pages boosting credibility. Artisans from Buokurukruwa, with its deep roots from Akrodie, can showcase unique crafts with clear, original descriptions, avoiding errors that deter customers. Content creation skills let them share their culture, while verified profiles build buyer trust.

In Boaso, where streams flow and bamboo thrives, sustainable practices can shine online, drawing eco-friendly customers. Legal business status ensures stability, and strong customer service strengthens community ties. CSI’s project, already equipping these communities with digital tools, will harness this training to transform lives and livelihoods through the power of social media, defending their online presence with authentic, well-crafted listings.
